On a Hot Lips Salvia. Feeds frequently on this plant!
Apparently it likes this plant a bit TOO much.
On another shot of this hummer, I didn't notice the bug until I downloaded the image. Amazing the little details we miss in our everyday lives.
Discovered this nest when the two eggs were just laid, and stopped by occasionally until they fledged.
This fellow was definitely NOT happy with me, even though it was in my(?!?) back yard.
The simpleness of this mallard on the footbridge railing caught my attention

This goldeneye was quietly swimming and suddenly took flight.
These small shorebirds are fascinating and stunning when they take flight all at once (sometimes by the thousands).
These birds fly in unison, and will suddenly flip over and show their white undersides. Wow, what a show they put on!
With common subjects, I try to capture something a bit different.
This bird as is often the case, is loudly voicing it's displeasure.
This gull tried everything it could to figure out how to eat a sea-star. I caught it just as it dropped it on the dock, looking like this was some sort of a follies dance routine.
One of my neighbors takes his miniature poodle and bird Rudy out on walks (Rudy hides under Dave's coat). We love to see them!

These are very skittish birds with a rather plaintive cry. I often hear but don't see them.
This grebe is enjoying a meal. They are fascinating birds and quickly dive when they feel threatened.
This loon caught my eye just as I was getting ready to leave. I sat down on the pier and shot it diving for spot shrimp. Plenty for a meal!
This little guy was just coming in for a landing.
These birds appear gangly, but this species has striking green eyes that glisten in the sun.

This woodpecker was drumming for a mate, and had it's ear up to the post listening for a reply
When the lighting is right the multiple colors on their undersides is very striking
